An Ode to Nevine Michaan and the days she taught class at her studio in New York City. Join Brian for a 90-minute Katonah Yoga® Practice, followed by a 15-minute coffee break and a 45-minute Pranayama Joy Ride!

Together we will engage with the classic forms, metaphors, and rhetoric that embody the Katonah Yoga® Method. We’ll use our practice to develop the conversation as we fold, unfold, inform, reform and transform our ability to access the abundance of joy around us. Where Asana serves as the cup, Pranayama fills us with spirit, and our shared time, helps us to savor it all!

Katonah Yoga® is a practice developed by Nevine Michaan over the course of 45 years.

Katonah Yoga® incorporates classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, sacred geometry, magic, mythology, metaphor and imagination in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being. Framing the practice with maps of time and personal space are defined and refined.

Incorporating themes using asana as origami, manipulating form for function, and developing a sense of personal measure.

Katonah Yoga
® is organized around three principles of esoteric dialogue:

1. All polarities are mediated by trinity

2. The universe has pattern, pattern implies intelligence

3. By virtue of repetition there is potential for insight

Brian Peoples

Brian is compelled to share yoga practice as a means to living life more fully, simply, sensibly and embodied. Encouraging students to become curious, deliberate and playful in their choice making; his lessons illustrate how to recognize form for its function and understand natures implicit pattern as found in the body. Through sound adjustments in joint space, breath work and metaphor; each practitioner can develop their awareness to better refine, relate, re-pair, attune and achieve more harmony in how they conduct themselves and the energy around them.

He has been a guest teacher at the United Nations, and annually headlines workshops, retreats, festivals and training programs, both in the U.S. and internationally. He lives in New York City.
